APES (Abbots Parish Eco Schools) Abbots in Transition Project
Working with local primary schools on their eco initiatives. We believe that our young people’s ideas for a positive future should be heard and supported in our community. Therefore we are working with local schools to support their work towards “Eco School” accreditation and to set up an interactive network to share ideas across schools. Orchard Group Abbots in Transition Project
Working with Abbots Langley Parish Council, the Orchard Group have designed, and will plant and maintain a community orchard near the new allotment site in Primrose Hill, bringing local fruit to the village for the benefit of residents and future generations. A very active group called AIMs are associated with Abbots in Transition, working to improve in small ways our village gardens and open spaces and encouraging local people to help. They are seeking VOLUNTEERS to join them. Please let them know if you are interested. Grand Union Community Energy
An initiative of Transition in Kings to establish a Community Benefit Society with the aim of “improving local community resilience in the face of increasing energy costs and climate change”. This includes investment in the development, installation and operation of renewable energy projects.
The aim of the Henderson Hub project is to create a vibrant, active, arts venue and meeting place with a well-equipped theatre, exhibition space and coffee lounge for Abbots Langley.
Kings Langley Country Market
Providing home produced foods and selling direct to the community. Part of over 350 local, co-operative markets located throughout our country.Each Thursday, members of the Kings Langley Country Market sell their locally grown produce, home-made jams and pickles, home-made pies, cakes and crafts at the Reading Room (behind the opticians) in Kings Langley High Street from 10am to 12 noon.
Watford Cycle Hub
Aims to promote cycling in the Watford and surrounding area by providing information and practical support to all those who are interested in cycling. The Hub intends to be a positive contribution to the community.
