Our First AppleFest was held on 18 October 2015 on School Mead. Over 1,000 people came. Since then Applefest has been held each year with thousands attending.
We aimed to provide a fun family day out. We wanted to showcase local food and give everyone a chance to learn more about apples and take home their very own fruit tree. Our hope if for Abbots Langley to bloom with 1,000 new fruit trees planted. Fruit trees give locally grown, low food miles food and, if we plant trees in front gardens, it is easier to share and make sure no one goes hungry. There are a range of tree types to flower from very early spring into the summer and give our bees a steady supply of their food. As well the trees capture CO2, turn it into wood and food and keep our village cool in summer with shade.
You can still order your fruit tree for £20 by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org . For those organisations who have land we can offer a number of trees to plant so you can form a mini orchard in your grounds.
